Celebrating the 35th year of Kaleidoscope Dance Theatre in 2025 and the 35th year of the New York Institute of Dance & Education in 2026, Sean McLeod is a 2025 New York State Dance Education Association Outstanding Leadership Award recipient, and the National Dance Education Organization 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree. Sean is a Black award winning Executive Producer and received the coveted Jefferson Award for Public Service to America. Sean is founder of Reaching for Higher Ground Consulting, working with Corporate Executives on Innovation Strategies. He is an International Director, Composer, and Choreographer whose work spans over 40 years & 3 continents. Sean is President of the Kaleidoscope Dance Theatre; and Executive Producer of the Harriet Tubman Freedom Music Festival & New York Dance Festival at Lincoln Center in New York City. Sean served as a Think Tank member for the $125 Million Dollar Creatives Rebuild New York (CRNY), HueArts New York Advisory Committee, NYSCA Advisory Panel, NYFA Incubator for Arts & Culture Leaders of Color, and President, National Parks Arts Foundation Advisory Committee. He is President & CEO of the New York Institute of Dance & Education, developer of a Black-created technique McLeod Technique, and recently presented a 4 year Study in Critical Thinking in Natural & Physical Sciences. The study shows a critical process for good mental health practice through an Emotional & Personality Development model. Sean has personally awarded over 400 thousand dollars to established and emerging artists, and works with broad populations, economically stressed communities, Women, and Youth, using performance and education to challenge the way minorities are seen in society.
